OTTAWA – April 26, 2022
CN Cycle for CHEO is the CHEO Foundation’s most important oncology fundraising event, raising money for childhood cancer care, research and equipment. CHEO depends on it. This is our first year returning to a live event since 2019. As you may have already heard, Rolling Thunder, a motorcycle rally, is planning to be in Ottawa this weekend.
We want to assure all of our participants that we have been working closely with the Ottawa Police Service and are grateful for their work to ensure the event goes ahead, uninterrupted and safely. We do not believe that the rally will impact our event scheduled for Sunday, May 1st. We continue to be in contact with the police daily and will release any additional information that may impact the event.
We wish to inform everyone that this event is critically important in allowing CHEO to deliver vital care to children with cancer. We would respectfully ask that on May 1st, no one interfere with those who will be coming out to raise money and show support for these families, so we can ensure our participants and families a safe and happy event. We are confident that no one would want to disrupt an event that supports children with cancer and their families.
“For 15 years, the CN Cycle event has raised more than $10,223,117 to support children, youth and families dealing with a cancer diagnosis. The funds raised have had an incredible impact on CHEO’s ability to deliver world-class care. We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated and participated over the years, and we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, May 1st for a safe and successful event,” commented Barbara Stead-Coyle, President and CEO of the CHEO Foundation.
