About the Event
Join us for a day of family-filled fun as we thank you for the support that makes our work at CHEO, the CHEO Research Institute, CHEO School, and Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice possible.
Bring your favourite teddy bear and enjoy all the free activities. From interactive games to live entertainment, it’s a day dedicated to celebrating the heart of our community.
This special day is our way of giving back and helping your family create memories that will last a lifetime.

Free Breakfast with Celebrities
Local celebrities serving pancakes, sausages, and more! Enjoy a free meal while supplies last.

Bear Hospital
Children bring their cherished stuffed animals so our volunteers can heal injuries and provide care.

Face Painting
Add fun and fantasy to your day with creative and vibrant face painting designs!
Location
Held on the picturesque grounds of the Great Lawn at Lansdowne Park, this family-friendly extravaganza is packed with fun activities for kids of all ages.

Getting to the event
Use the FREE Shuttle Service:
Park at Carleton University, Lot P7
1125 Colonel By Dr, Ottawa, ON K1S 5B6
Use the QR code posted in Lot P7 where you board the shuttle, and park for FREE.
Event goers can scan the QR code and use the discount code: PICNIC for access to free parking during the event hours.
Shuttles will operate from the northwest corner of Lot P7 – Look for the CHEO’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic Sign.
Pickup: Every 20-minutes starting at 8:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Return: Every 20-minutes starting at 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Park underground at Lansdowne Park:
Event goers can park underground at Lansdowne Park, regular parking rates will apply.
Surrounding street parking:
Event goers can use the surrounding street parking, regular parking rates will apply.
Parking for bicycles:
There are 250+ bicycle parking rings on site that can accommodate up to 500 bicycles. Plus, a self-serve bike repair station located across from the Horticulture Building.

Volunteer
We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to help with various aspects of this fun day and great cause. From serving breakfast to running activities, you’ll bring joy to children, youth and families in our community.

Frequently Asked Questions
CHEO’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic is a rain or shine event, but we want everyone who attends to be safe and have an enjoyable experience. We monitor weather closely in the lead up to the event and will post updates and recommendations here on this website and via social media by 2 p.m. the day before if the forecast is calling for rainfall of 31 mm or more, wind of 60 km/h with gusts of 90 km/h, a thunderstorm with lightening in the area, an air quality index warning of 8 or more, or temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius with a humidex over 40 degrees Celsius. In the event of extreme weather or dangerous conditions in the forecast, an event cancellation notice will be posted here on this website, on social media channels, and via email to registered attendees.

Simply bring your family and your favourite teddy bear! There’s no cost to attend, and most of the activities are free. It’s a day of fun, celebration, and community spirit.
While the CHEO’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic, presented by Giant Tiger, is not a fundraising event, your continued support throughout the year ensures that children, youth, and families receive the care they need at CHEO.
