About the Role

CHEO Foundation is in an ambitious growth phase, and we are recruiting for a talented and experienced philanthropy professional to join our team as Manager, Individual Philanthropy. Reporting to the Director, Individual Philanthropy and Engagement, this new role plays a pivotal role in achieving bold fundraising goals for CHEO, including the Kids These Days Campaign.

This role is ideal for a major gift fundraiser with a proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors and family foundations. The role manages a portfolio of existing and prospective donors, driving revenue through strategic relationship-building and collaborative partnerships with senior leaders, volunteers, and colleagues. Additionally, you will mentor and guide team members, contributing to the overall growth and success of CHEO’s philanthropic program.

About You

You are an experienced philanthropy professional with a passion for building authentic donor relationships. You have a track record in major gift fundraising and excel at aligning donor passions with organizational priorities. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are energized by mentoring others in philanthropy best practices. You are self-motivated, a continual learner, and welcome the opportunity to work within a dynamic and fast-paced team that is committed to donor excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identification, research, cultivation and solicitation of individual major donors and prospects (primarily individuals and private family foundations)
  • Develop cultivation and stewardship activities to engage new and existing donor groups
  • Oversee team members and help to coach their professional growth
  • Assist in the execution of effective donor-centered strategies to strengthen relationships, including the preparation of proposals, thank you letters, impact reports, and gift agreements
  • Participation in regular meetings to review fundraising achievements, monitor fundraising productivity, and monitor pipeline support to advance fundraising success
  • Updating Raiser’s Edge (RE) database in a timely fashion to reflect fundraising activity including visit outcomes, actions, notes, relationship connections, and pipeline, including sending contact reports and updating opportunities
  • Be an active participant in at least one Foundation-wide strategic initiative and/or committee

Qualifications

  • Major gift fundraising experience (or equivalent) with a proven track record of success in securing
    donations at the $100,000-$1,000,000+ level
  • Gift planning experience and/or knowledge of complex giving vehicles
  • Experience building new and long-term relationships with prospects, donors, colleagues, and senior
    volunteers
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and mentor colleagues
  • Strong conceptual and critical thinking skills
  • Outstanding organizational, accountability and time-management skills including the ability to prioritize and multi-task while displaying tact, diplomacy, and attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills, with ability to craft compelling proposals and email communications
  • A commitment to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and indigeneity
  • Knowledge of the pediatric healthcare landscape, or scientific/clinical research is an asset
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
