About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Communications, the Officer, Digital Communications is responsible for owning the execution and continuous improvement of CHEO Foundation’s digital content and channel presence. This role leads the day-to-day administration of the digital content pipeline, ensuring a consistent, high-quality flow of content across website, email, social media, and internal platforms.

Working closely with the Director, the Officer moves digital strategy into execution, bringing forward ideas, identifying opportunities, and helping shape how the Foundation shows up across digital channels. This role plays a critical part in strengthening engagement by ensuring content is timely, integrated across channels, and aligned with fundraising, events, and organizational priorities.

The Officer is accountable for digital channel performance, using analytics and insights to refine approaches and improve engagement over time. The successful candidate brings strong digital expertise, a proactive mindset, and a high degree of ownership and pride in delivering impactful digital communications.

You are energized by digital communications and take ownership of how an organization shows up online. You are not just a content creator, you think about the full picture, including audience, timing, platform, and performance.

You are confident managing social media, but you also understand how it connects to website, email, and broader digital channels. You are comfortable producing content at a fast pace and are proactive in identifying what to create, not just executing on what is assigned.

You are highly organized and able to manage a continuous flow of content while maintaining quality and consistency. You actively seek out stories, opportunities, and moments that can be translated into engaging digital content.

You are data-informed and use analytics to understand what is working and where to improve. You are comfortable experimenting, learning, and refining your approach over time.

You are also confident working with internal stakeholders, providing guidance and working collaboratively to deliver the best possible product.

Above all, you take pride in your work and feel a strong sense of ownership over the quality, consistency, and impact of digital communications.

Primary Responsibilities

Digital Content, Pipeline & Channel Execution

  • Govern the end-to-end digital content pipeline, ensuring a consistent and timely flow of content across all digital channels.
  • Write, edit, adapt, and repurpose content for CHEO Foundation’s digital platforms, including the website and microsites as well as social media.
  • Drive active content development by working closely with internal teams to identify stories, events, and opportunities for digital engagement.
  • Coordinate and maintain an integrated digital content calendar with CHEO and the CHEO Research Institute.
  • Ensure content is aligned across channels to maximize reach, consistency, and impact.
  • Ensure compliance with CHEO Foundation brand guidelines and accessibility standards and digital best practices.
  • Support photo and video capture at CHEO Foundation events and adapt content for digital use.

Engagement, Performance & Optimization

  • Govern digital channel engagement and performance, monitoring results and adjusting approaches as needed.
  • Produce regular performance reports with clear insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to increase reach, engagement, and effectiveness across channels.
  • Stay current on trends, tools, and platform changes and apply them where relevant.

Collaboration & Digital Advisory

  • Partner with internal teams to plan and deliver digital content aligned to fundraising, events, and campaigns.
  • Act as the digital voice within the team, advising on channel selection, content approach, and timing.
  • Collaboratively challenge and guide stakeholders to improve digital outcomes.

Professional Judgment & Service Orientation

  • Apply sound judgment, organization and attention to detail in managing competing priorities.
  • Deliver high-quality work with a strong service orientation and awareness of reputational impact.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Several years experience in digital communications, social media, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and steward a high volume of digital content across multiple platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience presiding over social media channels and digital content calendars within the framework of an organization’s brand.
  • Strong writing, editing, spelling, and grammatical skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and platforms.
  • Hands on working knowledge of social media platforms, analytics, reporting tools, and digital best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in photo and video capture and editing skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, non-profit, or fundraising environments.
  • Ability to work and speak in French and English (preferred)
