Volunteering at CHEO Foundation
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at CHEO Foundation! Become a volunteer and enjoy a rewarding experience that helps in so many ways.
CHEO Foundation volunteers generously and tirelessly give their time to assist with events, providing administrative support, participating in special programs, or creating smiles as the beloved CHEO Bear Mascot, and your contribution is invaluable.
Volunteer activities are assigned, monitored, and evaluated by the Volunteer Manager.
There are currently no volunteer positions open, and the application process is temporarily closed. Please continue to check this page as new opportunities will be posted here as soon as they become available.
Frequently Asked Questions
Applicants must be 16 years old, though many roles require volunteers to be 18 years old.
Complete the e-application form. Your contact information will be kept on file for one year. Many current CHEO Foundation volunteers are regulars, so the need for new recruits varies. You may be invited to attend a group interview.
If you are selected to volunteer at CHEO Foundation, you may be required to supply the following documentation, at your own cost:
- Police Records Check: CHEO can accept an existing Vulnerable Sector Check completed within 6 months of your interview. Otherwise, we will provide instructions on how to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check or a Judicial Matters Check as a volunteer for CHEO Foundation.

When an opportunity that matches your availability and interests becomes available, we will contact you. Many factors are considered when matching volunteers to a role, including your availability, interests, and skills and how they match to our current available opportunities.
Although we work closely together, CHEO Foundation, CHEO (the hospital), Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice, and the CHEO Research Institute are four separate entities, each with its own volunteer opportunities and application processes.
If you are using the Better Impact platform, you will be able to merge your profiles across these organizations for a more seamless experience.
