Flo arrived in our world a month earlier than expected and needed CHEO’s help. Born with a cleft lip and palate she spent a few days at CHEO’s NICU to monitor her breathing and weight before moving to a ward for additional tests. Thankfully, it was discovered that the cleft palate was an isolated issue and not a symptom of a separate condition. However, a few weeks later, Flo was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, which required a brace. She also had a hole in her heart, which is now closed. Now, post-surgery for her cleft palate, Flo is a healthy and vocal baby full of life.
