Parker is a ten-year-old multi-sport athlete and motivated cancer warrior. After a painless lump sent him to CHEO in August 2022, it was discovered through scans and a biopsy that he suffered from Ewing Sarcoma. What followed was a strict chemotherapy regimen and an elaborate surgery that involved removing parts of his leg and knee and rotating the remaining part of his lower leg to recreate normal leg function. The operation was a success, and now Parker is back to being his active self. Now only a few months away from his CHEO bell ringing, Parker is looking to the future.
“We found stories of other kids who have gone through the same, including John Leslie, another CHEO patient who went on to compete in the Paralympics as a snowboarder. We saw that it would give him an active life, This whole process was to ensure he came our of this so he could live his best life!”
