The 10th annual Ottawa Children’s Gala presented by Urbandale Construction is one of a kind in Ottawa; a formal gala filled with entertainment for both…
The CHEO Foundation is responsible for developing, accepting, distributing, and recognizing philanthropy in support of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre, the CHEO Research Institute and Roger Neilson House.
Incorporated in 1974, the CHEO Foundation was established thanks to the hard work of a committee formed in the early 1960’s. Their goal was to convince government and ministries to fund a new pediatric hospital in Ottawa and their determination and commitment paid off in 1974 when CHEO opened its doors.
With passion and determination, this group planted a seed that blossomed to a network of support throughout the National Capital Region and beyond. To this day, their initial goal of having a special place that provides specialized care for children and youth, remains a top priority for the families in eastern Ontario, western Quebec and beyond.
This incredible supports helps the hospital provide a wide variety of pediatric programs, research, state-of the art equipment, medical and nursing education, and assistance for families in crisis.
Each year, the CHEO Foundation holds the CHEO Telethon on CTV, which is part of the North-America wide Children’s Miracle Network. All funds raised locally benefit CHEO. Other events and lotteries such as CN Cycle for CHEO and the Dream of a Lifetime Lottery bring important support to the hospital. Community organizers support CHEO through more than 300 events each year, ranging from corporate and private dances, barbecues, and sports tournaments. Significant funds are also raised through annual giving and bequests.
The CHEO Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors comprised of community leaders, the President and CEO of the CHEO Foundation, the CEO of the hospital, a Chair, and representatives of the hospital staff and volunteer association.
